If you click on the link in this entry's title, you will go to a page on the National Conference of State Legislatures website. The page deals with the number of women serving in the legislatures of the fifty states.
Nationally there are 7382 seats in the 50 state legislatures. Of those 7382 seats, 1735 or 23.5% are held by women. Of those 1735 women, 1187 are Democrats, 535 are Republicans, 4 are a third party member, and 9, in Nebraska, are officially non-partisan. Thus, Democrats make up 68.4% of all women serving in the state legislatures.
In Ohio, the number of women in the General Assembly is 23 out of 132 total members for a percentage of 17.4%. Of the states that border Ohio, Michigan has the most women as a percentage of that state's legislature at 19.6% and Kentucky has the lowest at 12.3%.
